  • Are your products the same as going to the dentist?

All of our custom fit products are manufactured by experienced personnel, we are not dental professionals and do not offer any advice or treatment not do we fit the products. Our products are custom fitted to your own dental portfolio using our home impression kit without having to visit the dentist.

Why are the products so cheap compared to the dentist?

Not only do we deal direct with selected suppliers to get the best possible prices but we supply you with a Home Impression kit. This allows you to take your own dental impression without visiting the dentist, saving time and money. In addition NHS prices through your dentist are set by the ministry for health and form a banding system with a set price for everyone. As we are not dentists we do not fall under this banding system. Furthermore as we are an internet only company we have considerably lower overheads.

What is the home impression kit, and is it easy to do?

The home impression kit allows you to take your own dental impression. Full details can be found on our Home Impression Instructions page. It is very easy to do, just ensure you read the instructions carefully before attempting the process. If you follow the instructions correctly there is no reason why we cannot manufacture your custom fit product. The key is a deep and central bite (full instructions can be found at: http://www.denlabdirect.co.uk/about/self-impression-instructions ). Please note that the home impression kit is not suitable for people who have undergone orthodontic treatment or have any crown, bridge or denture work.

What happens if i make a mistake with the impression?

As long as you follow the instructions correctly there is no reason why you should make a mistake. Should you feel uncertain about your impression please send a picture of your impression to us at: info@denlabdirect.co.uk . If you have not followed the instructions correctly and have made a mistake, it is possible to buy an additional home impression kit or extra putty from our website.

How long does the process take?

We are open Monday to Friday from 09:00 - 17:00 hrs. If you place your order before 16:00hrs we will dispatch your products the same day. The impression process takes no more than 5 minutes. Please make sure you follow the instructions carefully before attempting the impression. Once you have successfully completed your impression, return it to us and we will manufacture your custom fit product in 7-10 days.

How long will my custom fit product last?

It is difficult to say how long a custom fit dental product will last. It will depend on a variety of factors; how often you use the product, how you care for the product, the severity of your grinding, changes in your teeth etc. As a general rule of thumb we recommend that you change your custom fit dental product every 6 months.

Are the products suitable for children?

Our products are suitable for adults only (except Sports Mouthguards/Gumshields (age 9 upwards), unless otherwise instructed by your dentist.

WHAT IF I HAVE A REMOVABLE PLATE?

Removable plates must be removed before taking the impression and whilst wearing the product. If you have any queries please consult your dentist.

WHAT IF THE FINAL PRODUCT DOESN’T FIT?

In rare cases that your product is loose or doesn’t fit properly, we will remake one and prioritise it for you.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY PRODUCT?

We recommend that you clean your product using our specified cleaning tablets to ensure the best results. Please also clean as you would your teeth with toothpaste and toothbrush and rinse well before and after each use. Do not use hot or boiling water as this will damage the product.

I HAVE MY OWN MODEL OF MY TEETH CAN I SEND YOU THAT?

I’m afraid that this is not possible. As we have not manufactured that particular model we cannot guarantee quality of the final product. We require a new impression with each custom fit order.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN BISPHENOL A (BPA)?

Bisphenol A, more commonly known as BPA, is a chemical that has been used for more than 40 years in the manufacture of many hard plastic food containers such as baby bottles and reusable cups and the lining of metal food and beverage cans, including canned liquid infant formula. Our products do not contain BPA.

DO THE CUSTOM FIT PRODUCTS COVER ALL OF THE TEETH?

All of our custom fit products are manufactured to our specification. Experienced personnel will hand cut the product to the back of the first molar(6) for comfort and safety purposes. It does not matter that your back teeth are not covered; the products will work as they are intended (i.e. you do not need to whiten your back teeth as they are not seen, a Nightguard will still protect the back teeth from grinding).

DO YOU SEND ME THE MOULDS / CASTS OR DO YOU KEEP THEM?

We do not send the moulds / casts of your teeth out with the product. We keep the moulds on file for 4 weeks. If you require a new product outside of this we will require a new impression from you.

  • WHAT IS TEETH WHITENING?

It is a professional treatment that gets your teeth whiter. The product is called dental bleach and the active ingredient is Carbamide Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide or zero peroxide alternatives.

HOW DOES THE HOME WHITENING PROCEDURE WORK?

You apply the whitening gel inside the dental trays and place it over your teeth. We recommend that you wear the teeth whitening trays for 1 hour at a time 3 times per week. Most people will see fast results after only a few hours of bleaching time. A good tip is to do either the upper or lower teeth separately to see your results. We recommend that should you be in any doubt that you consult your dentist prior to ordering.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TEETH WHITENING?

Once you whiten your teeth you will be taking off years of dental staining due to the staining effect from daily consumption of food, drink or smoking. Most people who use professional whitening products feel more confident and will get that feel good factor

HOW WHITE WILL MY TEETH BE?

You can experience up to 10 plus shades lighter. It is a continual and gradual process. You should see results after 14 days. You can finish the course earlier if you have the level of whitening you desire.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CARBAMIDE & HYDRONGEN PEROXIDE?

Carbamide is a by-product of hydrogen. It is a weaker form of hydrogen. When you use carbamide in your dental trays, the gel is activated and a chemical reaction will occur and carbamide will then breakdown into hydrogen peroxide. The formula for calculating how much Hydrogen Peroxide is in Carbamide Peroxide is: (Simply divide Carbamide Peroxide Percentage by 3.)

WHAT ARE THE LEGALITIES OF TEETH WHITENING?

Please see the current legislation on teeth whitening. You should only purchase any level of peroxide greater than 0.1% Hydrogen Peroxide under instruction from your dentist.

    IS TEETH WHITENING SAFE?

Yes. Den Lab only supply safe and trusted approved brands. Teeth whitening is ONLY suitable for Adults. Please also keep out of reach of children. Please do NOT use if you are pregnant or a breast feeding mother.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET GEL ON MY GUMS?

If you get any gel on your gums then simply remove it with a damp cotton bud or small damp cloth.

    ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Minor temporary sensitivity can happen. If you experience any sensitivity please stop using the whitening gel for a few days. We also recommend using desensitizer or Sensodyne toothpaste during treatment.

CAN I USE ON FILLINGS, VENEERS, and CROWNS & BRIDGES?

Yes. You can even use dental bleach with gold crowns. Do remember that dental bleach will not whiten fillings, crowns, bridges or veneers as it will only whiten natural teeth.

WHAT IF I SWALLOW THE GEL?

The gel will not harm you in the quantities swallowed. We do not recommend sleeping with trays in your mouth. Please also keep out of reach of children.

SHOULD I BRUSH MY TEETH BEFORE WHITENING?

Do not brush your teeth immediately before whitening.

HOW SHOULD IS STORE THE WHITENING GEL?

Teeth whitening gels should be refrigerated or stored in a cool environment. (Gel should be at room temperature before use). Be careful of heat producing items such as lights that will increase the temperature of the gel. The shelf life of gel will be extended if it is kept cool, below 50º F.

HOW MUCH GEL SHOULD IS USE IN THE TRAYS?

Simply use enough gel so that it whitens your teeth and apply to the inside of the mouth trays. We recommend a droplet per tooth.

    IS TEETH WHITENING PERMANENT?

Yes! Whitening your teeth by this method is permanent. However, depending on the amount of coffee, tea, wine and other stain causing food you consume re-staining may occur. You may wish to have a touch up every 6- 12 months.

    View FAQ

  • WHY USE A NIGHT GUARD?

Night guards are used for teeth grinding. Anti-teeth grinding devices help prevent symptoms caused by excessive teeth grinding, clenching teeth and bruxism. Common symptoms are chronic headaches, face pain, damage to teeth, disruption to sleep. A night guard can be worn during the day or throughout the night to help relieve the pain and discomfort associated with this teeth grinding. Your dentist may have recommended that you wear a night guard.

WHY USE A CUSTOM MADE GUARD?

A custom made night-guard fits perfectly to the shape of your teeth. This ensures optimum comfort and maximum effectiveness.

WHAT TYPE OF NIGHT GUARD SHOULD I ORDER?

Our Nightguards are available in different thicknesses dependent upon the severity of your grinding. If you are unsure which product to use or the severity of your grinding you should consult your dentist.

SHOULD I ORDER AN UPPER OR LOWER NIGHTGUARDS

It is dental industry standard to order a lower Nightguard purely for comfort and safety reasons. However you may be more comfortable wearing an upper Nightguard as opposed to a lower, this is also acceptable and is down to personal choice. Furthermore you may have undergone orthodontic treatment on the lower teeth and require a product for the upper teeth. You can also alternate between an upper and lower product to further minimise any wear and tear. Both the upper and lower product will help with the problem of teeth grinding. If you are unsure please consult your dentist.

  • DENTURE REPAIRS

    Close

    View FAQ

  • CAN ALL DENTURES BE REPAIRED?

Depending on the extent of the damage, dentures can often be repaired. We will assess your broken denture to see if your denture can be repaired. Normally if a denture is cracked into two/three pieces, it can usually be repaired. However if a denture has broken into many pieces, it may not be possible to repair the denture. If it cannot be repaired we will contact you to discuss the options.

CAN YOU REMOVE BAD STAINS FROM THE DENTURE?

Stains caused by coloured foods, alcohol consumption or smoking, are also able to be eradicated with specialised cleaning materials that will not remove the gloss of the dentures.

WILL YOU REPLACE ANY BROKEN TEETH?

Replacement teeth can be added to a denture where they have become chipped or broken. Also if another tooth needs to be added to a current denture following infection or tooth loss, this usually can be carried out on the same day by our experienced denture technicians. Should you require additional teeth we will contact you to advise you of the requirements and costs prior to repairing the product.

SHOULD I TRY TO REPAIR THE DENTURE MYSELF?

Although there are a wide range of denture repair kits available to individuals who wear the fixtures on an everyday basis, it is vital to have the repair carried out by a professional to ensure the problem does not worsen. The over-the-counter solutions may seem more convenient for people but trying to fix dentures independently could damage the often expensive denture beyond repair.

CAN DENTURES BE REPAIRED IF THEY BECOME LOOSE?

In short, yes dentures can be relined if they become loose to improve their retention. Sometimes where a denture is comfortable but becoming loose, patients may decide to keep the denture rather than replace it. The denture retention can be improved by carrying out a denture reline procedure. Please contact us for details.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW ITS MY DENTURE?

Please make sure you include your order confirmation email in with the denture when you send it to us. That way we will know who it is from.
